Islam is a religion that was brought by Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ' alaihi wa sallam. This is the religion of God closed the previous religions. God has perfected this religion for his servants. With this Religion (Islam), God perfected favors on them. God only bless Islam as a religion that should they believe. Therefore, no religion is accepted other than Islam.
Allaah says,
مَّا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَا أَحَدٍ مِّن رِّجَالِكُمْ وَلَكِن رَّسُولَ اللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ ِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيماً
"Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets. And ever is Allah, of all things, Knowing."
(QS. Al Ahzab: 40)
Allah ta'ala also said,
الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الإِسْلاَمَ دِيناً.....
".....This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."
(QS. Al Maa'idah: 3)
Allah ta'ala also said
.....إِنَّ الدِّينَ عِندَ اللّهِ الإِسْلاَمُ
"Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam. And those who were given the Scripture did not differ except after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And whoever disbelieves in the verses of Allah, then indeed, Allah is swift in [taking] account."
(QS. Ali Imran: 19)
Allah ta'ala says,
وَمَن يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ الإِسْلاَمِ دِيناً فَلَن يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ فِي الآخِرَةِ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
"And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers." (QS. Ali ' Imran: 85)
Allah ta'ala obliges to mankind to religion for God's sake with this conversion. Allah says to the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam,
قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي رَسُولُ اللّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ جَمِيعاً الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ إِلَـهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ لا يُحْيِـي وَيُمِيتُ فَآمِنُواْ بِاللّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ النَّبِيِّ الأُمِّيِّ الَّذِي يُؤْمِنُ بِاللّهِ وَكَلِمَاتِهِ وَاتَّبِعُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ
"Say: O mankind, Indeed, your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He covers the night with the day, [another night] chasing it rapidly; and [He created] the sun, the moon, and the stars,
subjected by His command.
Unquestionably, His is the creation and the command; blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds. "
(QS. Al A'raf: 158)
In the Sahih Muslim there is a hadith narrated from the path of Abu Hurayrah ( may Allaah be pleased with him ) of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) . He said,
"By the substance that the soul of Muhammad is in his hands. There is not a man of this people who hears my prophethood, whether Jews or Christians, and then he dies in a state of not believing in the teachings that I carry but that he must be one of the inhabitants of hell."
The nature of faith in the Prophet is by justifying what he brings with accompanying acceptance and obedience, not just justification. So that's then Abu Talib could not be considered as believers against the Messenger of Allaah ' alaihi wa sallam although he justify the teachings he brings, even he dare to testify that Islam is the best religion.
Islam has been the benefit form encapsulates all that is taught by the earlier religions. The religion of Islam which he admits is more special than previous religions because Islam is the doctrine can be applied at any time, at any place and in any society. Allaah said to the Messenger of Allaah ' alaihi wa sallam,
.....وَأَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقاً لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَمُهَيْمِناً
"And We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth.
To each of you We prescribed a law and a method. Had Allah willed,
He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so race to [all that is] good.
To Allah is your return all together, and He will [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ."
(QS. Al Maa'idah: 48)
The purpose of the Islamic statement is appropriate to apply in every age, place and society is to hold fast to it will never be contrary to the goodness of the ummah at any time and in any place. Even with Islam the state of the people will be good. However, it is not the meaning of the Islamic statement that is suitable for every time, place and society is Islam is subject to the will of every time, place and society, as some people want.
Islam is the true religion. A religion that has received the assurance of help and victory from Allah ta'ala for anyone who holds true to it. Allah ta'ala says,
هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَى وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ
"It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although those who associate others with Allah dislike it."
(QS. Ash Shaff: 9)
Allah ta'ala says,
وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنكُمْ وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُم فِي الْأَرْضِ كَمَا اسْتَخْلَفَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ دِينَهُمُ الَّذِي ارْتَضَى لَهُمْ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُم مِّن بَعْدِ خَوْفِهِمْ أَمْناً يَعْبُدُونَنِي لَا يُشْرِكُونَ بِي شَيْئاً وَمَن كَفَرَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ
"Allah has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after that - then those are the defiantly disobedient. "
(QS. An Nur: 55)
Islam is a doctrine that includes aqeedah / belief and shari'a / law. Islam is a perfect teaching, both in terms of aqidah and in syariat taught:
Islam order to Tauhid (He is Allah, [who is] One) Allah ta'ala and prohibit Shirk.
Islam ordered to do honestly and prohibit lie.
Islam commands to do justice and forbid persecution.
Islam commands to fulfill the mandate and forbid betrayal.
Islam commands to keep promises and prohibit breach of promise.
Islam ordered to serve to both Parents and prohibits the Act of durhaka (disobey) to them.
Islam orders to establish friendships (silaturahmi) (to broken relationships) with relatives (family) and Islam forbids the act of deciding friendship.
Islamic order to connect well with neighbors and prohibits being bad to them.
In General can be said that Islam ordered all noble moral character and prohibits low morals and despicable. Islam ordered all sorts of good deeds and prohibits all ugly deeds. Allah ta'ala says,
إِنَّ اللّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِ وَالإِحْسَانِ وَإِيتَاء ذِي الْقُرْبَى وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاء وَالْمُنكَرِ وَالْبَغْيِ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
"Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded. "
(QS. An Nahl: 90)
