Kafir (infidel) or Non-Muslims?
At the beginning of Surat al-Baqarah, Allah mentions 3 types of people,
[1] Believer: Allah calls in 4 verses (starting from verses 2 to 5)
[2] Unbelievers: Allah mentions in 2 verses (verses 6 and 7)
[3] Munafik: verses 13
As these 3 types existed at the time of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam, they also existed in our time, in our country. If we look at the characteristics of Munafiq in the Koran, the most appropriate human to represent their character in Indonesia is JIL.
Since the past, infidels (Kafir) and hypocrites (munafik) have always worked together. Unbelievers (Kafir) make a conspiracy to destroy Islam from the outside, while hypocrites (munafik) are tasked with carrying out silence on the ideology of the Muslims. They whisper to each other beautiful words, to deceive the believers,
وَكَذَلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ عَدُوًّا شَيَاطِينَ الْإِنْسِ وَالْجِنِّ يُوحِي بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ زُخْرُفَ الْقَوْلِ غُرُورًا
And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy - devils from mankind and jinn, inspiring to one another decorative speech in delusion. But if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it, so leave them and that which they invent.
Anyone can see very clearly, their aim is to silence every mishap and bad things. So that everyone who commits mischief and bad things does not need to be afraid, because the perpetrators are safe.
JIL always positions itself to be different from the general teachings of Islam. The more deviant from Islamic teachings, the more defended by JIL with all its interpretations.
Our memories have not been weathered by the abuse of the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam. From the caricature picture, to the innocent film. When all Muslims are angry with all the acts of defamation of the prophet, JIL appears stunning by obscuring the Muslims that in truth all of them are not a form of blasphemy to the Prophet ﷺ.
When all Muslims reject lady gaga concerts in Indonesia, JIL appears at the forefront of supporting the implementation of her concert.
When all Muslims reject the Miss Universe performance in Indonesia, JIL is the front guard who supports this aurat/awrah exhibition.
Their principle is exactly the same as the character of the munafiq people. All the truths taught by Islam, let us reject, or at least be criticized. On the contrary, every error that is opposed by Islam, let's defend it, or at least reduce the role of the Muslims in rejecting it. But do not openly hostile to the Prophet and the Muslims.
الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالْمُنَافِقَاتُ بَعْضُهُم مِّن بَعْضٍ يَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمُنكَرِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَقْبِضُونَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ
"The hypocrite men and hypocrite women are of one another. They enjoin what is wrong and forbid what is right and close their hands. They have forgotten Allah, so He has forgotten them [accordingly]. Indeed, the hypocrites - it is they who are the defiantly disobedient"
This principle is 100% the same as the JIL principle that develops in our country. Whatever is according to Islamic teachings, let's make it vague. And whatever deviates from Islamic teachings, let us defend and we support. But our identity must remain Islamic. They are hypocrites ...
JIL Kafir friends
Allah calls the infidel munafiq, because their mission is the same, hostile to Islam and the Muslims. At the time of the Prophet, when there were tensions between the Muslims and Jews of the Bani Nadzir, the munafiq revealed their defense to the Jews,
ألم تر إلى الذين نافقوا يقولون لإخوانهم الذين كفروا من أهل الكتاب لئن أخرجتم لنخرجن معكم ولا نطيع فيكم أحدا أبدا وإن قوتلتم لننصرنكم والله يشهد إنهم لكاذبون
"Have you not considered those who practice hypocrisy, saying to their brothers who have disbelieved among the People of the Scripture, "If you are expelled, we will surely leave with you, and we will not obey, in regard to you, anyone - ever; and if you are fought, we will surely aid you." But Allah testifies that they are liars."
In Indonesia, this kind of effort is exactly the same as that of JIL against infidels. By removing infidel identity for those who have religion other than Islam. To eliminate the gap in the ideology of the Muslims with pagan ideology.
Even though the Koran affirms, Muslims are khoirul bariyyah, and the unbelievers are syarrul bariyyah.
Even though the Koran insists, it is not the same between the inhabitants of heaven and the inhabitants of hell.
لَا يَسْتَوِي أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ وَأَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ هُمُ الْفَائِزُونَ
Not equal are the companions of the Fire and the companions of Paradise. The companions of Paradise - they are the attainers [of success].
So, why do we emphasize in the first point that those who want to erase this identity are liberal figures, so that we are not too surprised, or it is normal if the perpetrators are them.
Second, regulating communication ethics
We ourselves are still feeling, what do the liberals really want by removing the infidel (kafir) identity for non-Muslims?
If the intention is to avoid calling non-Muslims by calling 'hi unbelievers,or hai kafir' in front of them, maybe this purpose can still be appreciated. But this is included in the realm of communication ethics, not a matter of diction.
In Fatawa Syabakah Islamiyah, this has been discussed.
هل يجوز الإشارة إلى الكافر باليد والقول له أنت كافر علما بأنه كافر فهل يجوز ذلك
"Can you accuse the unbelievers and say in front of him," You are an infidel (Kafir) ", even though we believe he is an infidel (kafir). Is this allowed? "
The answer to the Syabakah Islamiyah Islamic Institute,
فلا شك أن من لم يكفر الكافر أو يشك في كفره أنه كافر, وهذا أصل أصيل في الإسلام, إلا أن هذا لا يعني ما ذكره السائل من إسماع الكافر كونه كافرا, بل الغالب أن ذلك يتنافى مع الحكمة, إذ كيف يقال هذا الكلام لمن يرجى تأليفه على الإسلام ، لا سيما وأن الكافر قد يعتقد أنه على حق ، فةسماعه هذه الكلمة مقتض لتنفيره عن سماع الحق وعن قبوله إياه. ويستثنى من هذا حالة وهي فيما إذا اقتضت المصلحة الشرعية ذلك ، ويغلب أن يكون هذا في حق المعاند
(Fatwa Syabakah Islamiyah, no. 39380).
Third, Join the Muslim community Ahlus Sunah
The development of religious polemic in Indonesia, demands the Muslims to be more vigilant. Especially when the polemic is easily infiltrated into Islamic organizations.
What we can suggest, study Islam correctly. Especially about the issue of monotheism and aqeedah.
Because of ideological deviations, it can be overcome with knowledge and confidence.
Ibnul Qayim said,
فبكمال العقل والصبر ، تُدفع فتنة الشهوة ، وبكمال البصيرة واليقين ، تُدفع فتنة الشبهة
With perfection of mind and patience, slander lust can be avoided. With the perfection of science and believes, slanderous Syubhat can be overcome.
What is meant by slander syubhat is a deviation of thought that damages the aqeedah and belief of a Muslim.
To be able to realize that, you can join the Muslim community Ahlus Sunah. because with the community, we can strengthen each other.
In a hadith stated,
عَلَيْكُمْ بِالجَمَاعَةِ ، فَإنَّمَا يَأْكُلُ الذِّئْبُ مِنَ الغَنَمِ القَاصِيَة
You have to join the congregation (Comunity), because wolves will only eat goats who are alone.
(Narrated by the Judge in al-Mustadrak 765 and dihasankan an-Nawawi).
