Answer:
Wa alaikumus regards warahmatullah wabarokatuh
Bismillah was shalatu was salamu 'ala Rasulillah, amma ba'du,
Something can be called a religious syiar when he comes from religion. And we can not make something as syari islam, while it is not part of religion. Examples of religious syiar are adzan, takbir, Friday prayer, id prayer, hajj, and so on. Zahir(Phisycal)-like worship, witnessed by many, becomes syiar, because such a worship is a sign that Islam exists in the region.
(Tafsir Ibn Utsaimin, al-Baqarah: verse 198).
Being the moon star symbol of Islam, means believing that this kind of symbol is the syari of Islam. Is this justified? Here are some of the scholars' comments about the phenomenon of the star moon,
First , there is a narration from Ibn Yunus that there was a friend named Abul Kanud, Sa'd bin Malik al-Azdi, he once visited the Messenger of Allaah alaihi wa sallam in Medina. Then the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam paired a flag for him to bring to his people. The flag is black, with a white crescent. (al-Ishabah, 3/72)
In this story, as Ibn Yunus states, as follows,
رواه سعيد بن عفير عن عمرو بن زهير بن أسمر بن أبي الكنود أن أبا الكنود وفد فذكره
Said bin Ufair narrated from Amr bin Zuhair bin Asmar ibn Abul Kanud, that Abul Kanud had visited the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam and was given the flag.

History Status
In Fatwa Islam (no 144180) it is explained that this history is dhaif (is a category of rejected and unresolved hadith that comes from the words or deeds of the Prophet). For several reasons
Amr bin Zuhair majhul, is not known
Said bin Ufair who narrates this story from Amr bin Zuhair, not tabi'i tabi'in. But generation after that. Al-Hafidz put it in the tenth generation ( at-Tabahqah al-Ashirah ), a contemporary generation with Imam Ahmad. (Taqrib at-Tahdzib, 1/362) So this sanad history was interrupted between Said with Amr bin Zuhair.
If Amr bin Zuhair is a teacher of Said bin Ufair, then Amr bin Zuhair is not a tabi'in. That is, he did not find his great-grandfather, Abul Kanud, who was a friend.
Considering his sanad is not continuous twice, this hadith is classified as the hade mu'dhal, and that includes the hadith dhaif, which can not be a proposition.
Secondly , some scholars insist that the crescent star symbol, never known in the time of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam and companions. Not even known in the days of the Umawiyah. Some say, first appeared in Ottoman times (around the 13th century AD).
In at-Taratib al-Idariyah dinukil information Syihab al-Mirjani, in his book Wafayat al-Aslaf ,
Put a picture of the crescent moon above the minarets of the mosque, including Bid'ah (something new). The rulers of the Ottoman Empire used this symbol as the official symbol, imitating the palace's symbol in the Roman. Initially incident, that Paul al-Maqduni the father of Iskandar Akbar once attacked Constantinople with his troops. On several nights of assault, they defeated the inhabitants of the land, and drove them out. The incident coincided with the time of dawn (Sahur). Then they feel optimistic with that time, and make a picture of the moon (the crescent moon) as their official symbol, to remember the event. This symbol was also used in various palaces, then imitated by the Ottomans, when they defeated him. Then it entered the land of Qazan.
( at-Taratib al-Idariyah, al-Kittani, 1/265).
Imam Ibn Uthaymeen said,
On attaching pictures of the moon in the towers, some say that some Muslims are imitating other people, which they do to their places of worship. They laid the crescent symbol, to match the Christians who placed the crucifix in their places of worship. As is the case with the first aid foundation for sick people called the red crescent moon, to rival the property of the Christian, the red cross. Therefore, it is not proper that the symbol be placed in the minarets of the mosque, given the similarity (with the Christians), and remembering this is a waste of time and treasure.
(Majmu 'Fatawa wa Rasail Ibn Uthaymeen, 13/941).
Thirdly, based on the historical review of the above scholars, we can conclude that the crescent moon and the star are not part of the syari of Islam. For that, we can not make it as syari Islam, let alone believe that by installing the symbol will get a reward.
In Fatwa Islam (No. 1528) stated,
In conclusion, that every syiar and symbol, should be according to the Shari'a, where when there is no proposition that suggests the suggestion of it, then more appropriate is to leave it. The crescent moon and the stars are not the syiar of the Muslims, although some Muslims make it a syiar. As for the Muslim beliefs of the moon and the stars, they believe that the two things are God's creation, can not regulate taqdir good or bad, and can not give effect by itself to the events on earth. Allah created it for its benefit to man. Among them (as a reference calendar), as God says (which means), "They ask you about the new moon. Answer it is a time reference for every human being. "
Allahu a'lam.
