Istidraj Meaning

The meaning of istidraj:
From Ubah bin Amir radhiallahu 'anhu , the Prophet sallallaahu' alaihi wa sallam said,
إذا رأيت الله تعالى يعطي العبد من الدنيا ما يحب وهو مقيم على معاصيه فإنما ذلك منه استدراج
" When you see God giving the world a pleasure to a servant while he still wanders with immorality, then it is essentially the istidraj of God ."
Then the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam read the word of Allah,
فلما نسوا ما ذكروا به فتحنا عليهم أبواب كل شيء حتى إذا فرحوا بما أوتوا أخذناهم بغتة فإذا هم مبلسون
" So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were [then] in despair. "
(HR Ahmad, no.17349, Thabrani in Al-Kabir , no.913, and validated Al-Albani in As-Sahihah, 414).
Istidraj is the language derived from the word da-ra-ja (Arab: درج) which means rising from one level to the next. While the istidraj of Allah to the servant is understood as a 'punishment' which is given little by little and not given directly. God let this person and not hastened his azab. Allah says,
سنستدرجهم من حيث لا يعلمون
"So leave Me, [O Muhammad], with [the matter of] whoever denies the Qur'an. We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know."
( Al-Mu'jam Al-Lughah Al-Arabiyah , said: da-ra-ja).
All the evil acts that Allah rewarded with favors, and Allah made him forget to istighfar (seeking forgiveness from Allah), so he got closer to adzab little by little, then God gave all the punishment, that istidraj.
