The Greater Sin Than Shirk?

The Greater Sin Than Shirk Sins

As we know that the sin of shirk is the greatest sin and the greatest prohibition in religion. as the hadeeth of the greatest sins is the sin of shirk as the first order.

Abu Bakrah ( may Allaah be pleased with him) said:

One time we were beside the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam , then he said, " Will I tell you the greatest sins of the greatest?" - he said it three times. " Do shirk to Allah, insubordinate against both parents, and bear false witness or speak falsehood." At that time he leaned back and sat down. He is still repeating his words until we say if only he is silent.
(Muslim, 126)

The Greater Sin Than Shirk

Shaykh Muhammad At-Tamimi said,

وأعظم ما أمر الله به: التوحيد, وهو إفراد الله بالعبادة الشرك وهو دعوة غيره معه. والدليل قوله تعالى: {واعبدوا الله ولا تشركوا به شيئا}

"The great commandment of Allah is tawheed, which is oneness Allah in worship, and Allah's greatest prohibition is shirk, that is to worship other than Allah and equate it with worship to Him. The argument is the word of Allah Ta'ala: 'Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him,
[Tsalatsatul Ushul, p. 8]

In the Qur'an it is mentioned that Shirk is the greatest tyranny. Allah ta 'ala said,

"And [mention, O Muhammad], when Luqman said to his son while he was instructing him, "O my son, do not associate [anything] with Allah. Indeed, association [with him] is great injustice.""

Some scholars explain that there is a greater sin than the sin of shirk that is speaking in the name of Allah without knowledge. It is based on the word of Allah Ta'ala,

Say, "My Lord has only forbidden immoralities

[1] what is apparent of them and what is concealed

[2] Acts of sin, and oppression without right,

[3] and that you associate with Allah that for which He has not sent down authority,

[4] and that you say about Allah that which you do not know."

Why is this sin above the sin of shirk? Because the source of the sin of shirk is to speak in the name of Allah without knowledge.

Ibnul Qayyim rahimahullah said to explain this verse,

"Allah puts prohibited into four levels. Allah begins by mentioning a lesser degree of sin that is al fawaahisy (evil deeds). Then Allah mentions a greater prohibition, that is to violate the right of man without the right path. Then Allah turns again to mention the greater sin, that is doing shirk to Allah. Then Allah last mentions the greater sin of all that is speaking of Allah without knowledge. The prohibition to speak of Allah without knowledge involves talking about the name and attributes of Allah, His deeds, His religion and His Shari'ah. "
[I'lamul muwaqqi'in p. 31, Dar Kutubil 'Ilmiyah]

Shaykh Abdurrahman As-Sa'diy explains that the danger of sin speaks in Allah's name without knowledge can change the religion of Allah and even place itself parallel to the Maker of Shari'ah -wal'iyadzu billah-. He said interpreting the verse,

"(Speaking in the name of Allah) on asma 'and His nature, on His deeds and shari'a. All these things have been forbidden and Allah forbid His servants to do so, for causing a common and special mafsadat, it is tyranny and impudence to Allah, beyond the limits and changes the religion and the Shari'ah of Allah. "
(Tafsir As-Sa'diy)

Changing the religion of Allah by justifying the haram and forbid the lawful then say this is the religion and the Shari'ah of Allah. This act positions and makes the person as a Rabb. As the word of God.

They take their rabbis and their monks for their lords apart from Allah. And also the Messiah, son of Mary, whereas they were commanded to worship none but the One True God. There is no god but He. Exalted be He above those whom they associate with Him in His Divinity. "

The point of this verse is that they obey the monks and priests in blind taqlid when they have changed religion and spoken in the name of Allah without knowledge. Notice the hadith that interprets the verse.

From 'Adi bin Hatim, he said, "I went to the Prophet sallallaahu' alaihi wa sallam, while on my neck there is a (necklace) cross made of gold.
Then He said, 'Hi' Adi, throw that idol away from you! "
And I heard him read (Qur'anic verse) in the Bara'ah (at-Taubah, which means)," They (the Jews and Nashrani/Christian) made his pious people and their monks as the rabb (gods) other than Allah ", He said, 'They (the followers) are not worshiping them (their pious people and their monks ). But if they (the pious people and their monks) justify something for them, they also regard it as lawful. If they (the pious people and their monks) forbid something for them, they assume haram ".
(Tirmidhi, no: 3095, assigned by Shaykh al-Albani)

May we be kept away from speaking in the name of Allah without knowledge and kept away from various kinds of Shirk and immoral. Ameen.
