Question:
Does keeping beard is obligatory or just allowed? what if we shave it? it is sinful or just destructive of Deen? Is shaving beard only when accompanied by raising a mustache?

Answer:
Regarding the above questions, we say, there is a Saheeh hadeeth from the Prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam by Imam Al-Bukhari and Muslim in the book of the Sahih both of the hadith of Ibn Umar radhiyallahu' anhu ma he said. Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said:
Meaning:
"Differentiate the musyrik, (with) cut the mustache (completly) and perfect the beard" [1]
"Differentiate the musyrik, (with) cut the mustache (completly) and perfect the beard" [1]
In the shahih Muslim from Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu 'anhu, he said, Prophet sallallaahu' alaihi wa sallam said:
Meaning: "Cut a mustache and leave the beard lengthened, separate the Majus" [2]
Imam An-Nasai in his sunan issued a hadith with a saheeh sanad from Zayd ibn Arqam radhiyallahu ' anhu, he said, the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu' alaihi wa sallam said:
Meaning: "Whoever has not taken from his mustache (cut it), then he is not of our class" [3]
The great Al-Allamah and the famous Al-Hafiz, Abu Muhammad bin Hazm said, "The scholars have agreed that cutting off the mustache and allowing the beard to grow is fardlu (obligatory)"
The hadiths about this and the Ulama' sayings about cutting out the mustache and multiplying the beard, glorifying and letting it extend are a lot, it is difficult to calculate its quantity in this short treatise.
From the hadiths in advance and the exclamation of ijma by Ibn Hazm is known answer to the above three questions, the summary is that maintaining, multiplying and allowing the beard to extend is fardhu, should not be abandoned because the Messenger of Allah commanded thus while his command contains mandatory meaning as Allah Ta ' ala:
And what Allah restored to His Messenger from the people of the towns - it is for Allah and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives and orphans and the [stranded] traveler - so that it will not be a perpetual distribution among the rich from among you. And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.
Similarly, cutting the mustache is obligatory but cutting out is more afdhal (main), while multiplying or leaving it for granted, then it should not be law because it contradicts the word of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam : "cut mustache", "Cut mustache until it runs out "," Whoever does not take from his mustache (cut it) then he does not belong to our class "

The four lafazh hadith, all of which are contained in the narrations of hadith from the Prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, while in the last lafazh there is a serious threat and a very firm warning. This then contains the obligatory consequences of a Muslim being careful of the prohibition of Allah and His Messenger and hastening to obey the commands of Allah and His Messenger.
It is also known that reproducing a mustache and allowing it is an act of sin and immorality. Likewise, to shave his beard and cut him off, including sinfulness and immorality that can reduce faith and weaken it and fear the infilling of Allah's wrath and His punishment.
In the above-mentioned hadiths there are clues that lengthening the mustache and shaving the beard and cutting it including the deeds resembling the majus and the musyrik when it is well known that resembling them is a mischievous act, should not be done according to the word of the Prophet 'alaihi wa sallam :
Meaning: "Whoever resembles a people, he belongs to their group" [4]
I hope this answer is sufficient and satisfying.
