Little Arrogant Can't Enter Heaven?

Question

Assalamualaikum sorry, I want to ask the point of this hadith: "will not enter the paradise of someone who in his heart has pride as much as mustard seeds"
Can you explain how arrogant and in what ways?

Answer:

Waalaikumussalam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Bismillah walhamdulillah was sholaatu wassalam'ala Rasulillah, waba'du.

The Hadith referred to is the hadith of Ibn Mas'ud's radhiyallahu ‘anhu, the Prophet sallallaahu ' alaihi wa sallam said,

will not enter heaven a person who in his heart has pride as big as a dust seed.
(Narrated by Muslim)

The intended arrogant meaning is explained in the continuation of the hadith, when a sahabah asks the Prophet,

"What if someone likes his clothes to be good, the sandals are good ...?"

The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam replied,

" Indeed Allah is Most Beautiful, and loves beauty. Pride is to reject the truth and look down on others. "
(Narrated by Muslim)

When the truth is clear in his view, the verse is clear, the hadith is clear, but he is still reluctant to defeat his ego, to submit to the truth, this is arrogant.

When a person sees himself above others, is more noble than others, is more perfect than others, then views others as low and despicable, that is arrogant.

Who in his heart has these few qualities, does not enter heaven.

Nas-alullah as salaamah ... may Allah prevent us from this nature.

Don't Enter Heaven Forever?

However, the threat of "not entering heaven", in the hadith about arrogance above, and other traditions which explain a major sin/immorality, then threatened not to enter heaven, the meaning is, not enter heaven directly, which is without punishment and reckoning. Not entering heaven forever.

Because the threat of not entering heaven contained in the Qur'an or hadith, has two meanings:

First, do not enter heaven forever (eternal tahrim).

Meaning, will be in hell forever, will never enter Heaven. This is the fate of unbelievers or polytheists.

Second, do not enter temporary heaven (tahrim mu-aqqot).

He stopped by while in hell, to cleanse his sin. Then if the time has come for him to deserve to enter heaven, God will enter him into heaven.

Or he has another chance that is more fortunate, it could be with the mercy and compassion of God, he was forgiven of his sins so there was no need to stop in hell, go straight to heaven.

This is what applies to believers who commit major sins.

(See: I'lam Al Anam by Sheikh Sholih Al Fauzan, p. 62)

By dividing it like this, the creed of the Khawarij people is denied, which means the threat to the hadith above and the like, as an eternal threat in hell. So that they forgave believers who committed major sins.

Even though Allah says,

Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin.

"... for whom He wills" shows that, the sin which is under shirk, which is a big sin, is then brought to death; has not been able to be fulfilled, the fate of the culprit in the hereafter is under the will of God. This means that if God wants to punish him first, then he will stop by hell. But if you want others because of His mercy and love; he forgave his sin and went straight to heaven.

This is what underlies the Ahlussunah faith in relation to the perpetrators of major sins.

Those who have eternal threats in hell, are only perpetrators of shirk / infidel sin. They are the ones whose sins are not forgiven by God, so that they are eternal forever in hell.

Na'udzubillah min zzalik ..

This conclusion as explained by Imam Nawawi rahimahullah when explaining the hadith above,

The right explanation (for the meaning of the hadith above) is that which was chosen by Qodhi 'Iyadh and the other from among the ulama (muhaqqiq), that the intention of not entering heaven is not entering heaven without going through the process of punishment, if he is to be punished first. Or it could be said: this is a reply if indeed he is desired by Allah to be repaid.

Because sometimes people like this, get God's mercy so that their sins are not rewarded. Even those who are monotheistic, surely go to heaven. It could be the first heaven (which without doom and reckoning), or the next group after some of the perpetrators of the great sin that died brought a big sin that he had not repented of got a punishment.

(See: Syarah Shahih Muslim, by Imam Nawawi, 1/79).

Wallahua'lam bis showab.
