When is the time for Qailulah (sleeping during the day)?

Sunnah time for Qailulah (Napping)
When is the time of Qailulah? some say before zuhr someone says after, which one is true?

Answer:

Bismillah walhamdulillah was sholaatu wassalam'ala Rasulillah, wa ba'du.



The Prophet, said,


Do Qailulah because the devil is not Qailulah.


Qailulah also in the Qur'an, including in Al-Furqon verse 24 about the pleasure of heaven,


The companions of Paradise, that Day, are [in] a better settlement and better resting (Qailulah) place.



Imam Al-Azhari explained the meaning of Qoilulah what is in verse in this,


The Arabs understand Qailulah is a mid-afternoon break, when the sun peak. Although not accompanied by sleep. The argument is that the inhabitants of heaven also do the Qailulah but they do not sleep, because in heaven there is no sleep.



Imam As-Shon'ani concludes the same,


Maqiil or Qailulah is a break in the middle of the afternoon, although not accompanied by sleep.



This explanation is corroborated by the testimony of a sahabah of Ibn Abbas and Ibn Mas'ud radhiyallahu'anhuma,


On the Day of Judgment, no day will peak until the inhabitants of heaven do qailulah (lunch break) in heaven and the inhabitants of hell do qailulah in hell.

From the information above we conclude that:

[1] Qailulah includes sunnah worship.

As concluded by Imam Syarbini rahimahullah,


its sunnah for people who want to perform tahajud prayers, to qailulah, which is to sleep before zuhr. Qailulah benefits such as sahur for fasting people.

And this is stated by the majority of scholars (Jumhur).

[2]. Qailulah is a break in the middle of the afternoon, although not necessarily by sleeping.

When is the Qail Time?

There are two opinions of scholars in this regard:

First, before zuhr.

Among those who strained this opinion was Imam Syarbini rahimahullah , in his statement above.

Second, after duhur.

Ulama who hold this opinion include Al Munawi and Al'aini - rahimahumallah- .

Al Munawi stated


Qailulah is, sleeping in the middle of the afternoon, when the sun is leaning west (zuhr time) or before or after.

Al 'Aini also stated,


Qailulah means sleep in the zuhr prayer period (from leaning west / Zawal, to ashar).



The right opinion - wallahua'lam- , is this second opinion, namely, the Qailulah time is after entering the zuhr time / or after performing the dhuhr prayer. As explained by sahabah Sahl bin Sa'ad radhiyallahu'anhu,


We used to be at the time of the Prophet SAW not do Qailulah or lunch except after a Jumah (Friday) prayer.
