10 Reasons For Always Feeling Poor, Poverty and Needy

Know that all these rizq or provisions are from Allah Ta'ala. Sometimes God extends his provision to someone, sometimes God limits it. Our task is to accept all of Allah's decisions with patience, gratitude, and qana'ah (feeling sufficient) with what Allah gives. This is the key to happiness. The Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi Wasallam said:

"It is very fortunate for those who are Muslims, and Allah gives them sufficient sustenance, and Allah makes his heart qana'ah (feeling sufficient) with what is bestowed upon him"

(HR. Muslim no. 1054).

But most of us are overcome by lust so we never feel enough. Thus most people, no matter how much Allah has given them, have never felt enough. Rasulullah shallallahu‘alaihi wa sallam said,

"If Bani Adam (human) had two valleys full of wealth, he would seek a third valley. And nothing can fill the belly of Bani Adam except the soil (that is death) ”

(HR. Bukhari no. 6436 and Muslim no.1048).

Sometimes, no matter how much Allah gives, one still feels poor and lacking. So that his life was never happy because he was overwhelmed by his feelings of constant loss.

So let us recognize the reasons why a person is always poor and in need, so we can reflect on and benefit from it.

10 Reasons For Always Feeling Poor, Poverty and Needy

One will continue to feel poor and lacking when:

1. Because the purpose of life and its greatest ambition is still seeking the world, not the afterlife

The greatest ambition is the world, God put the faqr thought in front of his eyes, he keeps feeling poor. The Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi Wasallam said:

" Whoever has the greatest ambition is the world, then Allah will make his affairs prosperous, and God will make faqr before his eyes, and he will not obtain the world except as it has been set for him. Whoever has the greatest ambition is the hereafter, God will facilitate his affairs, God will make him wealth in his heart, and the world will come to him in his ignorance ”

(HR. Ahmad, recited Al Albani in Ash Shahihah no. 950).

Ibnul Qayyim rahimahullah said:

"The lovers of the world do not miss three things: constant frustration, constant fatigue, and endless frustration"

(Ighatsatul Lahafan, 1/37).

2. For ignorance of religion

Science keeps its owners away from the love of the world, and realizes that the afterlife is the goal. Allah Ta'ala tells of Qarun:

" So he came out before his people in his adornment. Those who desired the worldly life said, "Oh, would that we had like what was given to Qarun. Indeed, he is one of great fortune."
But those who had been given knowledge said, "Woe to you! The reward of Allah is better for he who believes and does righteousness. And none are granted it except the patient."

(QS. Al Qashash: 79-80).

A knowledgeable person will understand that real wealth is not wealth, but real wealth is rich. The Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi Wasallam said:

"It is not wealth that is much of property, but the real wealth is rich in hearth"

(HR. Muslim no.6446, Muslim no. 1051).

3. Following the whisperings of the devil by doing evil and doing heresy

Because it is the devil who scares the senses and tells people to do evil, heresy and the urge to seek the world. Allah Ta'ala says:

“Satan threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. ”

(QS. Al Baqarah: 268)

The man who is led by this demonic whisper will continue to feel less and less, until he finally goes through the illegal ways of getting wealth.

4. Because you get along with the rich, you less get along with the poor

People who hang out a lot with rich people, who have more wealth than he has, will Underestimate on the favors of God that he has received. Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:

"Look at those who are beneath you, and do not look at those who are above you, because you do not underestimate the favor of Allah which He has bestowed upon you"

(HR. Bukhari - Muslim)

Many associations with the poor and the weak will soften the heart and keep the soul away from the love of the world. From Abu Hurairah radhiallahu'anhu, he said

“There was a person who complained bitterly of his heart to the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam. So he told the man: "If you want to soften your heart, feed the poor and rub the heads of the orphans"

(HR. Ahmad, 2/263 , Al Albani shared in Ash Shahihah genealogy no. 854).

5. Not grateful for the small favors

If the small things are not appreciated, then the great favors will not be appreciated and will continue to be lacking. Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:

"A person who is not thankful for a little, will not be thankful for much favors"

(HR. Ahmad no. 18449, recited by Al Albani in Sahih Al Jami 'no.3014)

6. A sick and dying heart

So that there is no tawakkal, husnuzhan billah, qana'ah, gratitude, and other prayers of the heart. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said to Abu Dzar:

"Do you think that poverty is a lack of wealth?" Abu Dhar replied: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah". He said: "Indeed, the ultimate wealth is the wealth of the heart, and poverty is the poverty of the heart "

(HR. Ibn Hibban no. 685, Al Hakim no. 7929, Al Albani is quoted in Sahih At Targhib no. 827).

A healthy heart will feel the peace and sweetness of faith, no hardship due to lack of wealth. Allah Ta'ala says:

"It is He who sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the believers that they would increase in faith along with their [present] faith. And to Allah belong the soldiers of the heavens and the earth, and ever is Allah Knowing and Wise.”

(QS. Al-Fath: 4).

7. Lack of worship

Because God promises that worshipers will be given happiness in the chest and will be prevented from poverty. The Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi Wasallam said:

“Allah 'Azza wa Jalla says: O mankind! Take your time to worship me, I will fill your chest with fullness and I will close your poverty. If you do not do it, then I will keep both your hands full of bustle and I will not close your poverty ”

(HR. At Tirmidzi no. 2466, Al Albani shared in Atih Tirmidzi )

So multiply your worship and be sincere in your worship, and Allah will give you enough.

8. His income or employment is illegal (Haram)

Because Haram property has no blessing in it, all that is gained will be less and less goodness. For exampleis Riba (usury like bank interest), Allah Ta'ala said,

"Allah destroys interest and gives increase for charities. And Allah does not like every sinning disbeliever.”

(QS. Al Baqarah [2]: 276).

And the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi Wasallam said:

“Not into heaven, meat that grows out of the haram treasure. Every meat that grows out of the haram treasure, then the fire of hell is worth it ”

(HR. Ahmad no.15284, distributed by Al Albani in the Ash Shahihah Genealogy [6/214]).

9. Not working and being lazy

When one does not want to try and is lazy to make a living how can he escape the consequences? So for men, they should not be lazy and refuse to work. Umar radhiyallahu 'anhu:

"O readers of the Qur'an (the worshipers), lift up to you (read: work!), So that the way is clear. Then compete in kindness. And do not be a burden of the Muslims ”

(HR. Al Baihaqi in Syu'abul Faith ).

Muslim men should not be lazy, because they are responsible for the maintenance of their families. The Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi Wasallam said:

"Strong believers are better and are more loved by Allah than weak believers. But every believer is good. Be passionate about what is good for you, and ask Allah (for it), and do not be lazy. If you are in disaster, do not say: suppose I did this and that. But say: "qadarullah wa maa-syaa-a fa’ala (this is Allah's destiny, what Allah desires is sure to happen)". Because saying "suppose ..." it will open the door of the devil "

(HR. Muslim no. 2664).

10. Rarely to Pray (Dua)

Whereas the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi Wasallam taught many prayers (dua) to avoid the poverty. These include:

"O Allah, I seek protection in You from infidelity and poverty ... yes, Allah, I seek protection in You from the azab (punishment) of the grave... there is no real worship other than You"

(HR. Abu Daud no. 5092, Al-Albani is raised in the Sahih of David ).

From Abdullah bin Mas'ud radhiallahu'anhu, from the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi Wasallam he used to pray:

(O Allah, I ask Thee for guidance, piety, intelligence, and wealth) ”

(HR. Muslim no. 2721, At Tirmidzi no. 3489, Ibn Majah no. 3105, Ibn Hibban no. 900 and others).

And other prayers are from the Qur'an and the Sunnah.
